Nevermore - And The Maiden Spoke (Lyrics)

Lyrics:
She was born in 1617
She takes the glides of wind
Always chasing her dreams

She was a tortured soul in pain
She whispered this dark refrain
"You're not alone, so never be afraid
We are the cold and beautiful, you are the blue insane"

Sometimes you moves the chairs downstairs
And runs away
Sometimes you makes yourself known to those
Unawake

And the Maiden spoke
In stuttered streams
As if her soul was dead
She spoke of nothing

She is the infinite
She is the deranged
Her soul drips the blood
Of the unfortunate and pained

She was a shameless soul stranded in the rain
Her redemption never came and she slowly went insane

Sometimes you whispers in my ears
"There's nothing to be afraid of"
Sometimes you moves the chairs downstairs

And the Maiden spoke
In stuttered streams
As if her soul was gone
She spoke from the land beyond

The Maiden spoke to me

[Solo]

Sometimes you whispers in my ears
"There's nothing to be afraid of"
Sometimes you moves the chairs downstairs

And the Maiden spoke
Inside my shattered dreams
As if her soul was gone
She spoke of the land beyond

She was just another system slave
Just another system slave
Being led to the grave

Track #4 of Nevermores 2010 album The Obsidian Conspiracy And The Maiden Spoke

The Obsidian Conspiracy is the seventh album by Seattle based American progressive/thrash metal band Nevermore, released June 8, 2010 in North America by Century Media[1] and in the very end of May in Europe.[2]

The album debuted #132 on the Billboard 200 charts, their first album to ever do so.

Overview
Nevermore, having written 13 new songs, entered Wichers studio, North Carolina, in August 2009, to record the album. Van Williams completed recording the drumming on the album as 17th of August, in Seattle. The whole recording process was finished in October.

Warrel Dane commented on the writing process: "These songs are full of newfound rage, lyrically and musically. Jeff Loomis has come up with some amazing new riffs that will no doubt please old and new fans alike. Also, I think the combination of Peter and Andy(production & mixing) will result in something very, very special." Dane expressed his opinion about the song "And the Maiden spoke": " [It] is going to blow your minds; it's twisted, progressive lunatic fringe riffing with vicious hooklines."[3]

Jeff Loomis commented on the writing of the album: "I think that with the new Nevermore, it still sounds like the band, but I think I'm giving Warrel a little bit more room this time around for more vocals rather than all the notey, kind of complex stuff and all that, so this time around it's just a little bit more wide open musically for him to really be able to do whatever he wants vocally this time around. So we'll see what happens. It's gonna be an interesting album for us, for sure."[4]

A music video for the song "Emptiness Unobstructed" directed by Nigel Crane, was filmed during the band's May 18 concert at the O2 Academy Islington in London, England.
